For the city of Rotterdam we did research how the batteries from electric cars can be re-used. The City of Rotterdam wants to put a lot of electric loading docks in the city. Before they do this, they want to be sure that the lifetime of battery is more than the lifetime of an electric car. The battery can be re-used for local energy storage (for example at home for energy storage coming from wind and sun). After that most elements can be recycled for new batteries or other products.

For the Port of Rotterdam they want to know which solutions are or will come available for overnight charging of trucks. We helped with the research on the roadmap for electric and hydrogen trucks. In 2024 the first e-trucks will be available with action radius of 100 km and these will be cheaper than the diesel trucks. For hydrogen it will be around 2030.

In 2030 the city of Rotterdam also wants that at least 90% of all ships uses shore power (for container ships 50%).
